Despite the hardships, Preity excelled academically. She completed her schooling at The Lawrence School in Himachal Pradesh before graduating with a degree in English Honours from St. Bede's College in Shimla. Displaying a deep curiosity for the human mind, she further pursued a postgraduate degree in Criminal Psychology. Before her acting career began, Preity was a true "tomboy," but her entry into the entertainment world was almost accidental, kickstarted by a chance meeting at a friend's birthday party that led to her first commercial for Perk chocolates in 1996.
