Removing the dashboard on a Volkswagen Polo 6N (produced from 1994 to 1999) is a labor-intensive task. You usually need to do this to replace a leaking heater core, fix a failing blower motor, or repair damaged wiring harnesses.

Open the hood. Remove the plastic rain tray plenum cover below the windshield wiper linkage. Locate the nuts protruding through the firewall into the cabin. Remove these nuts using a deep socket. Removing the dashboard on a Volkswagen Polo 6N

Look inside the cavity left by the instrument cluster for structural Torx screws attaching the shell to the metal crossmember. Locate the screws inside the radio/heater matrix cavity. Remove the plastic rain tray plenum cover below

This phase clears the top area of the dashboard.

Remove the shift boot surround. Locate and remove the screws fastening the center console structure to the floor tunnel and the lower dashboard frame. Pull the console piece rearward and out. Step 3: Instrument Cluster and Dashboard Switches
