The story of the MXQ S805 isn't just about a device; it’s about the community of "flashers" who refused to let it die. The "Toothpick" Ritual
Based on our review, we recommend the following:
Formatted to FAT32 (required for the recovery method).
You cannot just run the code; you must flash the partition.
Insert your Male-to-Male USB cable into your PC. Using a toothpick, press and hold the reset button hidden inside the AV port of the MXQ box. While holding it, plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB-4 port (usually the port closest to the SD card slot) of the box.
Before downloading any files, you must identify your specific board variation. Flashing the wrong firmware can permanently "brick" the device. Some boxes use the Broadcom AP6181 Go to product viewer dialog for this item. (no Bluetooth), while others use the Broadcom AP6210 Go to product viewer dialog for this item. (built-in Bluetooth).
Power off your MXQ, remove the four rubber feet on the bottom, unscrew the case, and look at the top side of the motherboard. Write down any numbers like “V3.1”, “RTL8188”, or “MXQ_V5.0”. Never flash firmware designed for a different Wi-Fi chip—your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will fail.
Most flashing tools require a Windows environment.
