Because it lacks prophetic origin, many scholars advise against singling it out with the belief that it has special, guaranteed powers for deliverance. In Islam, acts of worship and specific prayers are generally considered tawqifiyya (only established by divine revelation). Believing a specific formula brings automatic deliverance without prophetic authorization can approach bid'ah (religious innovation).

While Durood-e-Najat is a beautiful and effective prayer, Muslims are reminded that the greatest and most excellent Durood is the one taught by the Prophet ﷺ himself: Durood-e-Ibrāhīmī (اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ). This is the Durood recited in the final sitting of every Ṣalāh and is undoubtedly the most superior. However, reciting other permissible forms of Ṣalawāt, including Durood-e-Najat, is an act of great merit and love for the Prophet ﷺ.

Scholars caution against Duroods whose wording is either unsound in meaning or which have been circulated with fabricated virtues and rewards. Such Duroods should be avoided altogether. In the case of Darood-e-Tanjeena, the wording is considered sound, and its recitation is permissible, particularly with the correct intention — seeking Allah's help through the wasilah (intercession) of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

: It is used to purify the heart from evil and increase devotion to the Prophet ﷺ. Common Recitation Methods

This Darood acknowledges the belief that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a mercy to all worlds, and by invoking blessings upon him, believers hope to draw closer to Allah and receive His grace. The text serves as a comprehensive plea covering four key areas:

There is no harm in reciting it , and it is considered permissible and virtuous, provided one does not believe it to be obligatory or equal in status to the Qur'an or the authentically transmitted Durood-e-Ibrāhīmī. As long as the wording does not contain any form of shirk (associating partners with Allah) or an exaggerated claim that contradicts Islamic creed, such composed prayers are allowed as general supplications (duʿāʾ). The famous Hanafi jurist Ibn ʿĀbidīn (d. 1252 AH) and others have allowed the recitation of such Ṣalawāt as long as they do not contain clear falsehood.

Supplicating for elevated spiritual ranks and honors in the presence of God.

— The supplication seeks the satisfaction of every need through the blessings of the Prophet.

One of the most important topics surrounding Darood Najat is its authenticity. It has no direct chain of transmission (sanad) from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Recite Darood-e-Tanjeena 100 times after Fajr and Isha prayers without speaking to anyone in between. Within 40 days, with Allah's will, obstacles to marriage may be resolved.
