Geolocation Sketchup 2021 Jun 2026
The geo-located imagery translates seamlessly into LayOut for construction documents. You can capture top-down site plans featuring the imported imagery scale, providing contractors with an immediate sense of site boundaries and orientation. If you want to maximize your site workflows, tell me:

SketchUp 2021 continues the platform’s tradition of accessible 3D modeling while maintaining the geospatial integration capabilities introduced in previous versions. Unlike traditional GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software, which prioritizes data management, SketchUp prioritizes visual context and massing. The geo-location toolset allows designers to import a specific site snapshot—comprising 3D terrain and aerial imagery—directly into the modeling workspace, ensuring that conceptual designs immediately respect topographical constraints and solar orientation.
SketchUp 2021 utilizes native mapping services to bring in regional data. Follow these steps to position your project: 1. Open the Add Location Tool
The geolocation system in the 2021 version focuses on several key areas of site integration: Add Location UPDATED in SketchUp! What's New? geolocation sketchup 2021
Use third-party extensions like PlaceMaker to fetch up-to-date regional 3D data directly into older software versions. Best Practices for Site Modeling
Furthermore, SketchUp 2021 improved the interoperability of this data. The geolocation information is embedded within the file, meaning that when a model is shared via Trimble Connect or viewed in SketchUp Viewer, the precise location is preserved. This metadata is crucial for collaboration, ensuring that engineers and consultants are working within the exact same geographical parameters as the architect.
Mastering Geolocation in SketchUp 2021: A Complete Guide to Accurate Site Modeling
By setting the location and time of year, SketchUp’s Shadows panel allows you to simulate precise sun positions to analyze natural light. Adjust these pins to define the specific area
In SketchUp 2021, geolocation is more than just a digital pin on a map. It is a critical feature for architects, urban planners, and landscape designers who need real-world context for their models. By adding geographic location, you ensure accurate sun angles for shadow studies, correct terrain elevation, and a reliable reference for scale and orientation.
Geolocation in SketchUp is a feature that allows you to accurately place your 3D models in the real world by specifying the location and orientation of your model on the Earth's surface. This feature is particularly useful for architects, engineers, and designers who need to create models that are precisely located in a specific geographic area.
For sustainable design, this feature is indispensable. In an era where climate responsiveness is a regulatory requirement rather than an afterthought, designers use SketchUp 2021 to study solar access. They can determine how a proposed addition might shadow a neighbor’s property, calculate the optimal angle for photovoltaic panels, or analyze natural light penetration into interior spaces. The accuracy of the geolocation engine ensures that the "North" arrow is true, and the sun path is mathematically correct, providing data that serves as a solid baseline for more rigorous energy modeling.
Placing a model on real terrain helps visualize how a design fits into the topography. The geo-location toolset allows designers to import a
Use the pins to define the area you want to import. A larger area provides more context, but a smaller area allows for higher resolution imagery. 4. Select Map Data Source
Geolocating a model is more than just placing it on a map; it unlocks several critical design capabilities:

Actually, you are that guy, just not if that itch involves music rights. 😛
Pretty cool, nice to have a cross platform solution. I dig the random 10 feature but have had a lot of problems with audio skipping and lagging.
Not sure I can solicit the download feature, I know Justin was banning IPs that were running a userscript that allowed for download.
@cawlin: Dunno why the audio would lag or skip any more than the normal Muxtap web interface, except maybe on Muxtape he’s buffering more of the song before trying to play it, I just stream it and play as soon as it will let me. I could probably do some more advanced buffering to try to get the playback to skip less on a slower connection.
And yeah, I figured he might not be happy about the download. But given the nature of the service he’s providing, it’s something he’s going to have to deal with eventually. The truth is, he’s providing massive lists of links to unprotected MP3s that people can download.
This app is also a testament to the badassness of Doug McCune. 🙂
I love this app. I was waiting for someone to build an AIR app for Muxtape. The only thing I have to say is I wish there was a way to turn off Coverflow. I really don’t like Coverflow and wish I could just use the app without having to deal with erroneous 3D elements. Other than that, though I really like this.

Any chance you could build this for imeem.com? Particularly the download part. Muxtape may be all the talk of the blog world but imeem is still the 800 pound gorilla when it comes to web2.0 music and has millions more tunes.
imeem has an official api for making flex applications, could I use that to get the locations of their mp3’s and download them?
There is another air player for playing muxtapes:

Wow.
Couple cool adds that would make this even better:
refresh button on indiv playlist to get a new playlist when one is lame
+ button to add as a favorite playlist
Hm, is the coverflow in AIR that slow, or is this local? Nothing like the iphone, imho.
Awesome job man!
I love the application! A feature that I would love: bookmarks.
When I find a cool list I would like to be able to come back to it later.

Man ! When trying to build your great project I had for yours an error because there was a conflict, but solved it by cleaning the project with the Flexbuilder.
In case someone else can not build tutorials and finds strange errors,
here is the threat: http://curtismorley.com/2007/06/20/flash-cs3-flex-2-as3-error-1046/#comment-4203
Thanks for this great Component, I try to implement it ….
Haha, you beat me to it. I saw that guy’s coverflow Fluid thing and immediately started my own version, with searching and downloading. Now I can just use yours. Nice work.

I am having trouble getting this app to work. I have it installed and everything but it seems to never actually load anything. It just says “Loading…” the whole time. Any suggestions?
